Too Much Info

With regard to the Tag - I have lived too long and have too many things to remember and to sort through. I'm probably not a great candidate for the tag game. Today I was thinking about the jobs I have had and I thought about working in the fields, topping beets and thinning apples, and being a waitress/cabin maid for the Utah Parks Company. Much more interesting than the secretarial work.

We had a storm again last night and so this morning it was not a pretty commute to the Temple. I left quite early - about 8:40 a.m. and it took me 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach the Temple, and it is about 16 or 17 miles! I was supposed to stop at the chiropractor but I called them and said I couldn't make it. When I got to the Temple late, there were many other people arriving late also. From Parma it took my friends 2 hours to get there.

We have another storm coming in tonight but I do not have to go anywhere except one mile to the chapel to do my visiting report on the computer. Tonight we took the phone system we bought Monday back to Office Depot and came home with another one. I hate machines that are smarter than I am and anymore that is most of them. Love you all.

I know what you mean about storms. I have o call and cancel my OB and Evie's checkup today. Snow days are great when you had nothing planned, but they're the pits when you want to get somewhere. Hope the roads clear up for you soon!

I think you have much more interesting life than you think, Mom. I love hearing about any of your past! For myself, I remember thinning peaches in 100 degree weather with the fuzz sticking to all my sweat - very itchy and not very fun!

Part of the reason that I invited you is because I think sometimes it's important for each generation to remember that the one before them was once in the same shoes. This thought really impacted me when we were watching a slide-show of the Danes family. It began with pictures of you and Grandpa as newlyweds, and then went to young family photos, gradually growing over time. And the main characteristics of those photos aren't any different than the ones of my parents and their initially small but growing family over the years. And those photos aren't much different than the ones of my own young family now. As we struggle with the things that come at us on a daily basis, it's really hard to remember that we don't get to be like you over night. So inviting you to participate in the tag had everything to do with helping us to see the person that *grew* into the person you are now, and I wasn't trying to make you feel like you had too many things to sort through to be able to play. You are a wonderful example to me of the kind of person I want to be some day, in so many ways, and sometimes it feels like I'll never get there. So a periodic reminder that it was a growing process for you (and must needs be for us, too) is not a bad thing. Even if you feel like you have too many things to remember, we are glad to hear them, and I'm glad that you played :)

Calista said it all, I think. I've always thought that if I could accomplish half of what you have, I could consider my life full. So many times I've wished I knew a fraction of what you do, because I know that I'm still young and stupid. And I would give a great deal to just sit down and let you tell me everything you've told me before that I never thought would ever apply to me. I've realized since being married that I wouldn't mind becoming my mother, and I guess that would make me like you, too. I love you.
